Shri B Mahaveer Bothra
The history of Shri Nehru Maha Vidyalaya College is a narrative of responding to society’s call. In 1989, that call came from a migrant community that knew the day’s hard wage, but not the future’s promise. SNMV College offered that promise. Today, the call emanates from a world that has experienced an explosion of knowledge. SNMV College endeavours to educate a new generation of leaders—men and women who will be capable of shaping the future with vision, justice, charity, a sense of calling, and concern for all human beings.
I invite you to join us, as a prospective student, parent, or friend.
To put it in a nut shell, the college has a campus of 50 acres with more than 2,98,044 lakh sq. ft. of built-up area where classes for UG & PG programmes are conducted; a specialized building with an area of 25,573 sq.ft. dedicated only for the Institute of Management, separate Boys and Girls Hostel (with independent mess), each of which has two wings, monitored by full time Wardens. There are three floors in every hostel, each consisting of 15 rooms with a total of 48 rooms. The strength of the hostel inmates as on date is 456 (259 boys and 197 girls). Thirty-Five college buses ply to provide access to different parts of Coimbatore, Pollachi, Tirupur and Kerala. The teaching staff 145 members, is a force to reckon with and the non-teaching staff strength, 65 members helps in the smooth functioning of the College. Our Institution offers a rich array of 19 UG courses and 8 PG programmes along with Research and Doctoral programmes, complemented by 14 career oriented Add on Courses (sponsored by the UGC) and value – added coaching classes for CA, ICWA and ACS Competitive Examinations. The student strength of 3279 gives me a sense of satisfaction and belief of the goals achieved and any future endeavours that we may think of.
Challenges and Opportunities are two sides of the same coin. Modern education, curriculum development and teaching methodologies have to keep pace with the demand of the economic environment. The manager, businessman and the entrepreneur of today need many more weapons in his armoury. Holistic education should include all round development of a student. There are also stories of students and alumni who continue to excel in their chosen fields, maintaining the high standards that we have established at the SNMV College of Arts & Science.
We will not rest on our laurels, as there are many critical issues faced by today’s colleges and universities. We will continue to invest heavily in our academic and student-life programs, and we will stay focused on student enrollment, student satisfaction and student success.
Apart from the staple and mainstream programmes in Arts, Science and Commerce, the institution offers various vocational and job-oriented courses to give learners an edge over others in the job market by chiselling their communication, computer and other soft skills.
To ensure holistic development of the students, various subject societies like Youth Red Cross, Women’s Cell, Swastika – Counselling Centre, Legal Literacy Cell, Environmental Society, Computer Society, Career Counselling Cell, Social Sciences Forum etc. Organize debates, seminars and quizzes to sensitize the students on social-cultural and environmental issues.
The contribution of students in many co-curricular and extra-curricular activities is considered to be of paramount importance.
I truly believe that you would have an all-round development of your personality during your stay in this Saraswati temple of learning.
In our 32 years, we as SNMV family, have taken great strides in the field of Education and Social Service, but, we have promises to keep and miles to go before we sleep.
Shri Sunilkumar Nahata
Thirty-two years of impressive service in the field of higher education is an achievement in itself. Shri Nehru Maha Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science has been persistently growing from strength to strength which is why it is considered a quality college in this age where innumerable colleges are springing-up around every corner. Under the exceptional guidance of Coimbatore Welfare Association (CWA), SNMV CAS continues to prove its mettle in this competitive world.
In the present scenario, when the focus rests on technical subjects, SNMV CAS offers a refreshing change by stressing the need for Arts, Science and Management programmes. The college not only pays attention to students’ academic growth, but also takes into consideration their moral and spiritual development.
The student’s mind is like a tree which needs proper nurturing and care, after which, it grows to foster inestimable numbers for generations together. A student too, is capable of the same. Hence, it is the ethical responsibility of the Management and Staff of the College to provide students with the essentials, necessary for their development. We are proud to say that the Management and the staff have positioned themselves throughout to face the challenge in shaping the student’s mind and outlook and have been successful in creating responsible citizens for the future.
Another vital aspect of SNMV CAS is that it pays equal attention to co-curricular and extra-curricular activities which abet in the overall development of the student. The college endows the students with the facilities necessary for Sports, NSS, YRC, and many socially relevant causes. Understanding the need for proper mental development in this fragmented world, ‘Swastika’, a Student Counselling Centre has also been formed to help the students with their psychological needs. Equal significance is positioned in the placement of students in reputed organizations. This in turn goes on to enhance their future possibilities. The placement cell actively organizes classes and interviews, effectively preparing students to face the competitive world.
It is my pleasure to be a part of an Institution which has grown and established for itself a prominent position in the field of education. It is with great satisfaction that I invite everyone to partake in the feast of life that SNMV CAS offers to its students.
